How to Beat the Covid Blues
April 9, 2020
Being stuck indoors during this pandemic would cause even the most hardy of souls to feel a little down. What with all the beautiful sunny days we’ve had, and the beckoning of Spring outside our homes. But if we want to be able to get out there as soon as we can, the guidelines of staying away from others, and staying at home must be observed. Here are a few things you can still do from the comfort of home that may lift your spirits.
- Break out those old board games! Perhaps you have a version of Monopoly (I mean, everyone seems to). If you don’t have someone in your household to play with, you can find all kinds of online versions to play with friends or people all over the world! Try Scrabble on Facebook if you have it and invite some friends to play!
- Now is a great time to learn how to use the London Public Library’s online resources. With books you can download to read or listen to, resources like Ancestry, Creativebug, Kanopy film streaming, and language learning programs to practice that Spanish you picked up years ago in school, this time can be full of learning for you! Visit the library’s website for more information on setting up a temporary card if you can’t have one already.
- And perhaps most importantly, take care of your mental health during this trying time. There are many online resources to help you develop coping measures or practice things like meditation to keep your mind healthy. Here you can find a very informative lesson on the practice of mindfulness in your own life.
