With the closure of many parks and outdoor spaces, it can be hard to maintain a consistent amount of exercise, especially in condensed spaces like cities. An easy way to combat this is to simply put ourselves back into the mindset of beating the blues with at home exercises. Below you can find 3 simple workouts that can be done in any space, whether it's your living room, bedroom, or even the kitchen.
Stair Stepping
This exercise can be done whether or not you even have a set of stairs. Grab a large heavy book, or something similar, and just alternate stepping up and down, one foot at a time. If you have a set of stairs, even better.
Plank
Perhaps the easiest to do in regards to the lack of equipment, planking is also one of the best things you can do for developing and maintaining core strength. This is perhaps the single most important area to work on, as it helps with balance, among other things. Find a floor space the length of your body, and hold a “pushup” position for as long as you can.
Cleaning
Cleaning tasks can be surprisingly physical. Vacuuming and mopping are among those household chores that will often tire people out, for good reason. So if you’re needing motivation to do the vacuuming, just know that you’re also getting in a solid workout!
